The Beginning

Florence, 2018

Velmora began in a small leather workshop in the Oltrarno district of Florence - the same neighbourhood where artisans have been crafting exquisite goods for centuries. Founder Elara Voss, a former fashion editor, was captivated by a master craftsman working on a single bag for three days straight. She realised the world had lost touch with what truly beautiful things look like.

She partnered with that artisan, Lorenzo Ricci, and together they created Velmora: a brand dedicated to the idea that a handbag should be an investment, not just an accessory. One that gets better with every use, every memory, every year.

Today, every Velmora bag is still crafted in that same Florence atelier, by the same hands that began the journey.

Uncompromising Quality

We use only full-grain and vegetable-tanned leathers from certified Italian and Spanish tanneries. No shortcuts, no synthetic substitutes - ever.

Made with Love

Each bag takes 40-60 hours to complete. Our artisans' initials are stamped inside every piece - because they're proud of what they make, and so are we.

Ethically Sourced

We trace every material to its origin. Our tanneries hold LWG Gold certification, and we audit our supply chain annually for environmental and social standards.

The Process

From Hide to Handbag

Each Velmora bag passes through eight pairs of skilled hands before it reaches yours.

Selection

Only the top 3% of hides are chosen. Our leather maestro inspects each one by hand for grain, texture, and suppleness.

Cutting

Patterns are hand-marked and cut with surgical precision. No die-cutting - every piece is shaped by a skilled cutter who knows exactly where the finest grain lies.

Stitching

Saddle-stitched by hand using linen thread. This centuries-old technique means that if one stitch breaks, the rest hold - a machine stitch cannot do this.

Finishing

Edges are hand-painted, burnished, and buffed. Hardware is set by hand. The artisan's initials are stamped inside. Then a final quality inspection - no exceptions.

Lorenzo Ricci

Master Artisan & Head of Production

Third-generation leatherworker from Florence. Has dedicated 30 years to the art of handcrafted bags. Lorenzo's hands have shaped every Velmora design.

Sophia Marchetti

Head of Design

Trained at Central Saint Martins, with stints at Bottega Veneta and Loewe. Sophia brings a rigorous eye for proportion and an obsession with clean, lasting form.
